Mouche
I am a 46 year old woman residing in the province of Antwerp in Belgium, Europe
Languages, reading and writing are my primary passions in life. Though Dutch (the Flemish variant) is my mothertongue, I feel more confident when writing in English. I have no explanation for this phenomena, I even think in English while writing primarily poems, short stories and articles on whatever crosses my mind.
Call me a true anglophile if you want!
Like many others I started writing during my teens. At the age of 15 one of my poems was selected as 'poem of the month' by the editors of a national cultural youth magazine. Needless to say I felt very honoured at the time... Instead of sending my work to publishers, I persued my highschool education and after graduating I went on to study Germanic Philology at the local university, which I left for non-academic reasons: being a member of one of the student organisations had, by then inspired me to become ... a social worker.
However, after qualifying as a social worker, I quickly discovered that my knowledge of multiple languages came in very handy, living and working in a multicultural city ...
Nowadays, it is my objective to get my work published though I am aware it is not so evident for a non native speaker of English to catch the eye of a publisher, magazine or newspaper in this day and age.
